The short story “O Patinho Feio” illustrates the feeling that there is a place where we will be understood and welcomed. In it, a duck hatches a new brood of beautiful ducklings, except one of them was too big, gangly and gray. Anyway, it was an ugly duckling. In this story, H. C. Andersen asks us to consider that “being born in a duck yard does not matter, if you hatched from a swan egg.” Its original name is "Den grimme Ælling" and was first published in 1843.
 O conto “O Patinho Feio” ilustra o sentimento de que há um lugar no qual seremos compreendidos e bem recebidos. Nele, uma pata choca uma nova ninhada de lindos patinhos, exceto um deles que era grande demais, desengonçado e cinza. Enfim, era um patinho feio. Nesse conto, H. C. Andersen pede que consideremos que “ter nascido em um terreiro de patos não importa, se você eclodiu de um ovo de cisne.” Seu nome original é "Den grimme Ælling" e foi publicado pela primeira vez em 1843.
