This is one of the most loved old Russian folk tales, adapted for beginning readers.
This ia a tale about the grandpa's turnip that grows up so big that he needs all the help he can get to pull it up. So he calls for grandma, who then calls for granddaughter, but all together they still can't pull up the turnip. So the granddaughter calls for her dog, and soon the cat gives his helping paw, too. Still, despite all their efforts, they need more help.
It comes from a little mouse, whose participation, as it turns out, makes a big difference!
Will be enjoyed by preschoolers if read aloud, or by beginning readers.
