Questa è la storia di un re, di una principessa e di Osvaldo, un mostro che terrorizza il regno. “Il primo che lo catturerà, mia figlia sposerà” annuncia il re. Ma quando Valentino si fa avanti, tutti scoppiano a ridere: nessuno crede che possa riuscirci. Invece Valentino ha un sacco di esperienza in fatto di mostri e così inizia a raccontare di come, con astuzia, sia riuscito a uccidere tanti mostri: quello goloso, rimpinzandolo senza pietà; quello brutto, mettendogli uno specchio davanti; quello che soffre il solletico, facendolo morire dal ridere… Prodigio: la forza del racconto affascinerà il temuto mostro che, in cambio di una storia ogni sera, diventerà il guardiano del regno.
